The Linen Washing Process and Its Function

What is Pre-Wash (Pre-Washing)? 

Pre-washing is an essential process applied after fabric manufacturing and before reaching the customer. It involves stabilizing the fibers and improving the hand feel by pre-treating the fabric with moisture and heat.

■ Airo Wash: The fabric is fully saturated with water, and high-pressure air is gently injected to conduct washing without the fabric being excessively folded.

■ Spray Wash: Water is sprayed onto the fabric in a mist form, followed by finishing in a rotary high-temperature dryer.

The Dual Effect of Washing: Maximizing Hand Feel and Stability

After applying an appropriate amount of fabric softener and undergoing processing like Airo Wash or Tumble Wash, the linen fabric becomes more elastic and significantly softer. Furthermore, residual impurities remaining on the fabric are effectively removed.

Fiber Stabilization: Preserving Form and Durability through Controlled Shrinkage

Untreated linen shows a shrinkage rate of approximately 5% to 7% when exposed to water, making it prone to deformation after use. However, pre-washed linen, refined through meticulous washing processes, achieves size stability by reducing the shrinkage rate to 2% to 4%. This process ensures that the fabric maintains its form and tactile elegance even after repeated washing, providing customers with a fabric that has minimized wash-induced shrinkage.
